Welcome to Occupied With the Word! I am the undershepherd of Northside Calvary Church in Racine, WI. Here you will find my rambling discussions on things pertaining to the Living Word of the Living God (and occasionally a few miscellaneous items as well).
Sometimes there will be some ramblings that are a bit, well…preachy. That’s okay, though. I’m just fulfilling my calling! I like the words of Al Mohler:
The preacher’s authority is a delegated authority, but a real authority. We are assigned the task of feeding the flock of God, of teaching the church, of preaching the Word. We do not speak as one who possesses authority, but as one who is called to serve the church by proclaiming, expounding, applying, and declaring the Word of God. We are those who have been called to a task and set apart for mission; as vessels who hold a saving message even as earthen vessels hold water.
Our authority is not our own. We are called to the task of preaching the Bible, in season and out of season. We are rightly to divide the Word of truth, and to teach the infinite riches of the Word of God. There are no certainties without the authority of the Scripture. We have nothing but commas and question marks to offer if we lose confidence in the inerrant and infallible Word of God. There are no thunderbolts where the Word of God is subverted, mistrusted, or ignored.
Being from Montana, the mountains and fly fishing are in my blood. While the mountains are an important part of my heritage, I fully understand that my citizenship is not here, but is in the real “high country” at the feet of my Savior. I am only here until His purpose for me is fulfilled. That means your time with me is limited…read on!

I, like my sister, am so glad that my mom gave me this website last night. You have done a wonderful job and should be very proud.
I just wanted to say how much I miss everyone and how much I’m praying for Lynn and Grandma. I hope so much to see everyone real soon.
A co-worker of mine recently buried her mother-in-law due to a brain tumor. They didn’t even have time to treat it…she went so fast. From witnessing what she went through everyday, I know how difficult this time must be, but I’m so grateful that we can turn to God and understand his will.
Grandma-
I miss and love you so much. I can’t wait til I can see you again. I’m praying for you always.
Love,
Lacee
I once heard…”you can’t tell the success of a parent until you see his grandchildren become adults”.
Jason, I know your grandparents and parents are extremely proud of who you are and all that you do, right now.
You have now taken on one of the most difficult tasks in life… taking care of, and watching one of your most earthly treasures (a parent) suffer. Thankfully, the one hope we, as Christians, have is our eternal life in heaven. That promise alone helped me with losing my dad. (If I can tell you one thing-let your dad know how much you appreciate him and all that he has done for you, what a great father he was. Soak in every moment you have with him. Talk about your favorite memories with him. Let him know how much you love him. Let there be no regrets.)
My whole family will continue to pray for Uncle Lynn and Aunt Idella.
We miss you all.
Love,
Debbie & Family

Ok…This will jog your memory…Remember the little girl that lived across the street from you in Marmarth, ND? Yup..You guessed it Wanda the bleach blonde haired little annoyance? Of course you do. I just wanted to post to let you know I am continuing to pray for you and your family. I recently wrote a letter to your father in October 2006 about what God has done in my life and to make him aware that the Lord had pressed his situation on my heart and I wished to come see him. However, at the time he did not feel he should allow this visit. It is great to hear a little more about your life and the life of your family. I will continue to pray for you, your family and your ministry.
Love in Jesus Christ our Lord!

Hi Jason,
I’ve read and enjoyed Occupied with The Word for some time now. You’re deserving of The Thinking Blogger Award! Congratulations.
Stop over at http://vibrance.wordpress.com/2007/04/18/he-thinks-yes-he-does/ to see what I wrote about you, display the award with confidence, and then if you’d like, pass it along to five other deserving thinking-bloggers.
God Bless You!
Phil—
Jason,
Where in MT are you from? I’m from MT also. Is that picture at the top of your blog from MT? I sure miss the snow and mountains!

Jason,
Hi from Jonell in Michigan. Two posts above mine here — is a post from my brother, Phil, at http://vibrance.wordpress.com — and I wanted to ask you to pray for Phil. We remember that your Dad passed away from a brain tumor, and we were privileged to pray for you during that time. Our Dad and Gpa passed away of a brain tumor. Now Phil’s 80 year old father-in-law (who is a strong Christian) has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Do remember them in prayer.
Thanks,
Jonell
Jonell — Thanks for the note. I will definitely be in prayer for Phil and his family.
Thanks, we all appreciate it!
As Phil always says, “We must remember that prayer is our first resource, not our last resort!” How true! – Jonell
Jason,
Hi from Jonell. Just a quick note to let you know that Phil’s father in law is now in glory. He went to sleep on Monday night, March 9, and woke up in glory! What a way to go! The funeral was in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Friday, March 13, 2009. Thanks for your prayers, and we look forward to meeting you someday in heaven, if not before!

Hi Jason
This is Melody, from Marmarth, Grandma Nora’s grandaughter. I just wanted to say hello to you and tell you I think of your Father often, and remember playing volleyball with you while we were young. Hope you find everything you are looking for out there in that big world!
